But Arthur discovers that Henrietta, widow of Charles I, is being held prisoner in Walton’s fortress and takes advantage of his wedding arrangements to aid her escape by dressing her in Elvira’s wedding gown. Elvira believes she has been betrayed and loses her mind. But when the truth emerges, she is reunited with her betrothed and Arthur is pardoned by Cromwell.
