This descriptive piece about the Revolutionary War serves well as an American alternative to Beethoven's "Wellington's Victory." A narrator (or the conductor) announces the titles of each section to help the audience better appreciate what's being depicted musically: "the fight renewed," "general confusion," and "the Hessians surrender," for example.
