Synopsis: In a small Sicilian village, Santuzza discovers that Turiddu, whose child she is bearing, has left her for Lola. Turiddu and Lola were lovers years before but now Lola is married to Alfio, the village drover. Santuzza pleads with Turiddu to return to her and when he refuses she tells Alfio of his wife’s affair. Alfio, furious and determined to protect his honour, challenges Turiddu to a dual and kills him.
