Programme Note

Slonimsky's folktune theme is presented in a brass chorus and followed by several variations that exploit the extreme high and low sounds of the orchestra as well as timbral contrast among different families of instruments. Best of all, this is a playful score that will capture even the youngest concertgoer's attention.
