On January 15, 2009, Samuel Barber's opera Antony and Cleopatra returns to the Metropolitan Opera in New York. This occasion marks the first full production of the work at the MET since its premiere in 1966, when it was commissioned to mark the opening of the company's new hall at Lincoln Center.
In this unique audio portrait, composer Lee Hoiby talks about his friendship with Samuel Barber - cultivated while he was a student at the Curtis institute in Philadelphia - and his involvement in the creation of the score.
