Leading Danish composer Per Nørgård, who turns 80 this year, is certainly not one to rest on his laurels. His much anticipated Symphony No. 8, commissioned by the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, will see its world premiere on September 19, 2012 at the Helsinki Music Centre under the baton of conductor John Storgårds. This 35-minute orchestral exploration adds to Nørgård’s already rich orchestral oeuvre.

Country premieres in Sweden and Denmark follow in November.
