Programme Note
Chicago Concerto was commissioned by the well-known composer and conductor Bill Russo for his orchestra to perform with Gerry Mulligan as soloist. It features the baritone saxophone in four contrasting movements with room for the players to improvise. It is a showpiece for both soloist and orchestra.

...a brilliant fresh work for jazz orchestra and its performance was given a standing ovation. Russo and Mulligan repeated the piece as an encore.
