Jørgen Jersild

Jörgen Jersild (b. 1913) studied music at the University in Copenhagen and took lessons in composition with, among others, Poul Schierbeck, and later in Paris with Albert Roussel. Jersild’s compositional output is not overwhelmingly great. Beyond his work as composer he is known as an excellent educator, whom has published a number of highly used educational books. Jersild taught at the Royal Danish Music Conservatory from 1943-75, as professor from 1953.
