Programme Note
Bent Sørensen THE LADY AND THE LARK
The Lady and the Lark is a kind of miniature viola concerto in five short movements. The title refers partly to my work for solo viola, The Lady of Shalott (to which this is a profusely delayed ‘big sister’), and partly to the two lark-like cadences which constitute the 2nd and 4th movements. The work was composed for the Norwegian Cikada Ensemble, who have made a CD recording of it.
