Programme Note
SYN - for brass ensemble (1988) Sýn (in English "Vision") was composed for a special occasion: the exibition of a rebuilt famous Danish ship from the early Iron Age. The piece has a simple ternary form (ABA), but is otherwise far from simple. Traditional melodies and chords, some alluding to well-known early hymns, serve as a mirror in which new, strange and violent visions occur.
