Programme Note
NEMO DYNAMO (1989) – for percussion and og electronics I this work a human, the musician, is confronted with the machine. The computer may be able to play the interwoven note series in a wild, stormy tempo, but the soloist with his overview and playful co-creation is able to control the whole by means of special stresses, phrasings and dissonant deviations from the tempo that cut across the mechanical music of the computer. This explains the association in the title with Jules verne (“20.000 Leagues Under The Sea”). The machine is technically superior to Captain Nemo, but it is the human being who steers the vessel and decides on the route. The is composed for and in collaboration with – and is dedicated to - Gert Sørensen. Per Nørgård
