Reviews
SARDANA is patterned after the sardana, the national dance of Catalonia. There is a clash here of traditional and modern harmonies that keeps the music fresh and exciting.
Stephen Ellis, Fanfare
Leonardo Balada is a contemporary Spanish composer heavily influenced by native Catalan folk music who also manages to transcend the imposing presence and influence of de Falla. SARDANA evokes a western Mediterranean mood rather than a Spanish one, with all sorts of playfully shrill violins and dance motifs. The sound quality is rich and full. Give this one a listen.
