Celebración was commissioned by the Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia in honor of its Fifth Anniversary. The work was composed in 1977 and premiered at the Festival Concert on May 17, 1997 in La Coruna, Spain, with Victor Pablo Perez conducting the Orquest Sinfonica de Galicia.
