Reviews

  • Ms. Tower’s "Elegy ('… forgive these wild and wandering cries…')," subtitled after Tennyson’s "In Memoriam," was written in memory of Mr. [John] Swallow’s wife. In it, an agitated, disjunct trombone line enlivens the slow-moving strings to a febrile excitement imbued with an element of ecstasy… With Mr. Swallow playing the central role, the work proved touching and effective.
James R. Oestreich, The New York Times, 10/08/1993
