The recording and performance on this CD are both excellent....Two of the pieces on this CD have never been recorded before, and for this reason alone the CD would be valuable to a fan of Antheil's music. For someone who only knows the Ballet mecanique, it might be good to get to know the other side of George Antheil less brash, perhaps, less iconoclastic, but more subtle and at times beautiful.

This outstanding New World release underlines the newly acquired status that ex-maverick George Antheil has achieved in the recorded annals of American music...
Antheil's 1935 ballet Dreams is authentic Americana with an infectious Parisian accent...
...the second Serenade of 1948 is hefty enough in both concept and form to be included almost in the symphonic cycle. The lengthy first movement intones a foreboding and long-breathed theme that bears all the marks of gravity and scope indicating a major statement. With its somber slow movement and frenzied rondo finale, it makes one realize the designation "serenade" hardly does justice to the unusually serious and ambition work...
A notable addition to the growing American discography.
