On April 19, 2024, the Greek composer Minas Borboudakis celebrates his 50th birthday. To mark the occasion, several concerts are planned to celebrate the composer and his music, including a world premiere at Schwere Reiter in Munich and a concert with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
Borboudakis was born and raised in Heraklion, Crete. In 1992, he began his studies in piano and composition in Munich and Hamburg, and has resided in Germany ever since. As a freelance composer and pianist based in Munich, he has received several awards, including the Rodion Shchedrin Chamber Music Prize and the Christoph and Stephan Kaske Foundation Prize. His music is performed by renowned orchestras and ensembles around the world, in concert halls and festivals alike.

Under the theme Ἑλλάς – Margins and centres, ensemble aventure will perform Photonic Constructions I, inspired by the physical and metaphysical properties of light, and ROAI V for bass clarinet, viola and prepared piano where the formation of the trio is constantly broken up and re-structured.
Swedish premiere of Z Metamorphosis
May 30-31 Berwaldhallen Stockholm
The Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra will perform the Swedish premiere of Z Metamorphosis under the direction of Constantinos Carydis. This work transforms the material from Borboudakis’ musical theater Z into an orchestral amalgam, until the language becomes music.
World premiere of double bass solo work

Sophie Lücke will premiere things happening for double bass solo, a work Borboudaksi describes to move ‘between soundscapes, cool jazz elements and expressivity’. With Nora Gomringer’s poem “Wilson Opera Monologue”, the words and music grow into a cyclone of expressions, comprising rhythm, loops, sounds and melodic progressions.
The evening is concluded by the ensemble der gelbe klang performing Synaptic Arpeggiator for five woodwinds for which there is little chamber music literature available: piccolo flute, cor anglais, E Flat clarinet, bass clarinet, contrabassoon.
